The EQAR Association, an international non-profit association under Belgian law, has been founded by the E4 organisations to independently operate the Register of quality assurance agencies.
Members of the association are the four founders, ENQA, ESU, EUA and EURASHE, as well as the social partner organisations represented in the Bologna Follow-up Group and European governments that have decided to support the operation of EQAR and get involved in its overall governance.
EQAR publishes and manages a register of quality assurance agencies that substantially comply with the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG) to provide the public with clear and reliable information on quality assurance agencies operating in Europe. The register is web-based and freely accessible.

Its President, Andreas G. Orphanides, who was also the Vice-President of EQAR in 2011, represents EURASHE in EQAR, moreover, its Secretary General, Stefan Delplace, has been since 2012 Treasurer of EQAR.
EURASHE carries out its representation of PHE in QA organisations through its membership of the European quality Assurance Register (EQAR) of which it is a founding partner. One of EURASHE’s core priorities is Quality Assurance, and its main contribution this thematic is through the E4 group of which EURASHE has been a partner since the early 2000s.
As the representative of professional HE, contributing to the execution of the three related Ministerial mandates in the Bologna process, namely creating the European Standard Guidelines (ESG), setting up a Register for QA agencies (EQAR) and finally working out the practicalities for the working of the register are key reasons for EURASHE to contribute to the EQAR.
EURASHE actively participated in 2011 in the activities of EQAR, as Andreas G. Orphanides, EURASHE President since September 2011, has been Vice-President of the EQAR Executive Board. This involvement is also highlighted by the different events attended by EURASHE representatives.
EURASHE’s participation allows the association to take part in the formulation of the governing policies of EQAR from the part of PHE.
EURASHE also supervises the process by which QA agencies are nominated from, evaluated and included in the register.
The following events took place in 2011 under the framework of EURASHE’s participation in the EQAR, a total of 5 events in 3 countries (AT, BE, HU):
